Collins & Aikman closes deal

DETROIT - Collins & Aikman Corp. of Troy, Mich., completed its acquisition of the automotive fabric operations of Joan Fabrics and its yarn-dying affiliate Western Avenue Dyers.

Collins & Aikman paid Joan, of Tyngsboro, Mass., about $164 million in cash and stock for the businesses, which it is integrating in its North American automotive fabric operations.
