Ford seeks buyout of all Indianapolis dealerships
INDIANAPOLIS - Ford Motor Co., rocking the world of traditional auto dealerships in the United States, wants to acquire control of all Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealerships in Indianapolis.Last week, Ford asked the 18 dealerships in the area to sell to a new company to be owned by Ford and the dealers. The 18 outlets would be replaced by about five megastores.
Robert Rewey, Ford group vice president of marketing and sales, said the company may make similar offers to dealers in other medium-sized and metropolitan markets in the United States. He declined to be specific.
