DETROIT - Ford Motor Co. has removed the cloak of secrecy from its long-awaited Edsel. The new car will be available in four series: Ranger, Pacer, Corsair and Citation. It will appear in dealer showrooms Sept. 4.

Edsel expects to have 900 dealers by introduction day.

PERSPECTIVE 2000

It cost Ford Motor $250 million, but there was a bright side. A plant that was to build Edsels was adapted for another car that arrived a few years later: the Ford Mustang.
