Henry Ford criticizes emphasis on safety
BLUE BELL, Pa. - 'We have so many men working on safety now that we aren't doing the forward development (on vehicles) we should be doing,' Henry Ford II, chairman of Ford Motor Co., told a national news conference here.'We may be behind on the 1972 models because of this,' he added.
Ford said seat belts make a contribution to safety, but 'the other stuff doesn't mean much.'
'I am against the federal government taking over everything,' he said of the recent safety legislation. 'I've never seen anything go so unanimously in the wrong direction.'
