| FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS |
Who should I contact if I have a question not addressed here?
If you need help and can't find an answer here, please contact our customer service department at 313-446-1662 or e-mail us at subs@crain.com
Why am I constantly asked to register again if I have already registered?
The answer in a word: Cookies.
A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user's computer. Many Web sites use cookies to identify users. This is how you are recognized when you return to a site that you have visited in the past.
On our Web site, our Web server sends a cookie to your computer when you register or when you log in.
Sometimes the security level on your browser is set so that our server is unable to deliver a cookie to you or is unable to read the cookie that we have sent you. This is why, even after registering or logging in, you are not recognized as a subscriber by our site.
It isn't necessary to reduce the security level on your browser. You can make exceptions for trusted sites in Internet Explorer and Netscape, the two most popular Web browsers.
Go to autonews.com/cookie for a step-by-step guide on how to make sure you are allowing cookies on your computer.
How can I sign up for, or stop delivery of, the Automotive News daily or weekly e-mails?
First, log in to the Automotive News Web site using the e-mail and password you created when you signed up. Then, click on "Update Profile" (on the left side of the home page below the yellow Site Search box.)
This will direct you to a page that shows your online profile. Scroll down this page until you reach the "Signup for E-mail" section. You can also change your e-mail address and password at this time, if you wish.
To sign up for e-mail: Click on the boxes next to the e-mails you want to receive - a check mark will appear next to those e-mails. Then scroll down the page and click on the "Save Profile!" button.
To stop receiving e-mail, follow one of these two steps:
1. Click on the check mark in the box next to the e-mail you no longer wish to receive - this will make the check mark disappear. Then scroll down the page and click on "Save Profile!"
2. If you no longer wish to receive any Automotive News e-mails, click on "Don't send me any news e-mails," then scroll down the page and click on "Save Profile!"
If I have a print subscription to Automotive News or Automotive News Europe, what can I get online?
Subscribers to Automotive News and Automotive News Europe have access to every feature of the Automotive News and Automotive News Europe Web sites, except the German Auto Industry Newsletter. Click here to learn more about the German Auto Industry Newsletter
Subscribers can access story archives from 1994, data archives from 2000 and exclusive Web coverage of events ranging from the annual management briefing conference in Traverse City, Mich., to international auto shows.
How do I renew my subscription online?
Go to https://sec.crain.com/an/QuickOrder.aspx?p=W6ANN and enter your customer number and continue.
If you need to speak with someone from our customer service department regarding your renewal, you may do so either by e-mail at subs@crain.com or by phone at 313-446-1662
Can I share my e-mail address and password with others?
We discourage this, and for good reason.
We offer one access per subscription. Subscribers can log in on as many computers as they like, but sharing a password or customer number with someone else can inadvertently cost a subscriber access to the site.
If a subscriber shares his or her customer number with someone else, and that second person submits that number to our Web site, that person will overwrite the subscriber's access with his or her own.
We strongly recommend that subscribers not share their passwords or customer numbers with others.
How can I find the phone number or e-mail address of someone at Automotive News?
The phone numbers and e-mail addresses of all editorial and advertising staff members are at autonews.com/contactus
Is there a quick way to catch up on a recent issue of Automotive News?
You can find a complete table of contents for the current issue and links to the previous four issues at autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?Category=TOC
All stories are categorized by topic (News, Letters to the Editor, Marketing, etc.), and all stories list the page in which they appeared in the newspaper.
