Kia Niro

Vehicle type: Subcompact crossover
Engine: Plug-in hybrid with 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline direct-injection engine
Who designed it: Gregory Guillaume, chief designer at Kia's European studio in Frankfurt
What's cool: Neon yellow aluminum accents everywhere, front seats and center console formed with a single molded piece, "ice cube" LED running lights, butterfly doors, carbon-fiber cargo deck
Will it be built: It is strictly a concept car, but Kia could draw design inspiration from the concept for future models — perhaps a rival to the Nissan Juke.
Show reaction: Many showgoers wanted to play with the unusual driver interfaces, which included a rotating shifter built into the center console, but the car's minders asked them not to touch.
