Ingenious manufacturing creates shapely seats
What: Lear Crafted Comfort Connect
Innovation: Seat makers typically use convex surfaces to hold leather in place and prevent wrinkling. But stylists now want different shapes. Also, traditional processes usually preclude large, sculpted surfaces. To solve these problems, Lear used a combination of advanced manufacturing processes: infrared heating, computer-aided temperature feedback and new adhesive and laminate chemistries.
