Japanese and Korean automakers landed 12 vehicles and U.S. automakers placed 7 on the list of finalists in the running for 2014 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year honors. European brands represent five of the candidates. Altogether, 12 cars and 12 trucks/utilities were chosen. General Motors led all automakers with six candidates. Three car and three truck finalists will be named in December and the winners will be unveiled in January at the Detroit auto show.
