WINNER: Compact module water-cools diesel exhaust before combustion
What: Air intake module with integrated water charge air cooler
Innovation: Diesels typically cool exhaust gases with an air-cooled heat exchanger before they are recirculated back to combustion chambers. Valeo’s space-saving module uses a water-cooled heat exchanger and combines the air intake, throttle body, EGR valve, heat exchanger and channel that distribute cooled air back to the cylinder head. The module is attached to the cylinder head for faster air routing, reducing turbo lag during acceleration.
