A look back at cars and light trucks that were given a pink slip in the U.S. market and headed for the sunset during 2012.

The Lexus version of the Toyota Prius was billed as the world's first dedicated luxury hybrid but had a short run -- just three model years. For many U.S. consumers the entry-level hybrid failed to deliver the same fuel economy as the Prius as well as meet Lexus' sales expectations. At the low end of the luxury spectrum, Lexus now markets the sporty CT, a hybrid hatchback.
