Cars and light trucks that waved goodbye in 2012

A look back at cars and light trucks that were given a pink slip in the U.S. market and headed for the sunset during 2012.

Maybach

The Maybach brand had the dubious distinction of disappearing for the second time when output ended in August. Originally introduced as a premium brand in Germany in 1921, Maybach retired the first time in 1941 but was reintroduced by Daimler in 2002 as a super-luxury marque intended rival Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Mercedes now plans to enhance the venerable S class franchise to appease those shopping at the top end of the "saloon" market.
