Lamborghini Urus

Segment: Exotic

Drivetrain option(s): RWD

Powertrain(s): Gasoline

New 2018

The new Urus will slot at the bottom of Lamborghini's range. The crossover is loosely based on the same platform as other larger utility vehicles in the VW Group portfolio: the Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga. It will launch with a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 sourced from Porsche. A year later, a plug-in hybrid model will be launched with a smaller V-6.

The 650-hp, $237,000 Urus is poised to enter at the top of the ultraluxury SUV segment, which already includes the 608-hp, Bentley Bentayga and the 629-hp, Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG. Lamborghini plans to build about 1,000 units of the SUV in 2018 then increase volume to 3,500 annually in 2019, with the option to expand to 4,000 units if demand is higher, CEO Stefano Domenicali said.
