The Jeep brand was an obvious prize when Fiat took over operational control of Chrysler Group in 2009. For years, Chrysler had largely ignored the multibillion-dollar aftermarket for Jeep performance parts. But no more.
Under Dougherty, 54, and Mopar brand head Pietro Gorlier, Chrysler-Fiat's global parts and service brand is developing hundreds of its own factory-authorized performance parts for the Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee and other vehicles to capture a bigger chunk of aftermarket revenue.
