Ford F-150

Segment: Full-sized Pickup

Drivetrain option(s): RWD/4WD

Powertrain(s): Gasoline, Diesel, Hybrid

Re-engineering 2017

Three years after Ford’s crown jewel was redesigned with an aluminum body, the profitable pickup is getting re-engineered this fall, with minor changes to its exterior, a new 10-speed transmission and a diesel engine option. The 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor adds new electronic shocks, a “Trail Control” slow-speed cruise control system, a new interior package that includes Recaro sport seats and new exterior colors. The 2019 Raptor goes on sale in late 2018.

Redesign 2020

The next-generation F-150, which executives have said will continue the use of aluminum, will appear in the second half of 2020. It will include a hybrid model, built in Dearborn, Mich., that Ford says will be able to act as a mobile generator.
