General Motors is expected to introduce a U.S. redesign of its global compact in the second half of 2015.
GM’s best-selling car globally will be among the first vehicles launched on the newest version of its global compact vehicle platform, named Delta, which also will underpin the Opel Astra, Buick Verano and Chevrolet Equinox.
The 1.8-liter base engine likely will be replaced by a new 1.5-liter.
Spy photos, pictured above, show a more swept-back silhouette and sleeker headlights and taillights. The Cruze looks to have a bolder, deeper version of Chevy's traditional twin-port grille. The front end is more rounded and aerodynamic-looking than the current car, and the raked windshield gives it a coupelike profile. The double-squared off taillamps show hints of the Malibu and even a little resemblance to the Corvette.
Following the launch of the redesign, the addition of a Cruze hatchback or a coupe is a possibility.
