Freshen 2018

The 2019 minicar will arrive in dealerships in late summer 2018 with a freshened exterior and additional active safety technology, including optional low-speed automatic braking.

Production of the Spark EV ended last year in anticipation of the more practical Bolt EV. The gasoline-powered version continues, though hobbled by an airbag recall this spring that forced dealers to halt sales for several months. The 2019 Spark's front fascia is a bit less aggressive than the refreshed Cruze and Malibu, as it features a large plastic bumper in the middle of the lower grille. Aside from the exterior tweaks and available Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking, little changes in the segment-leading mini-car for 2019.

Redesign 2021

A redesign of the car into a crossover is expected as early as 2021.
