Redesign 2018

The 2019 Silverado features a sleeker, more aggressive exterior thatís noticeably different from the more rectilinear outgoing version. The rectangular grille features two large horizontal bars, compared with one on the current-generation pickup, that run into headlamp stacks with prominent, boomerang daytime running lights. The Silverado and its sibling, the GMC Sierra, are expected to launch in the middle of the year.

General Motors had added a new powerplant offering for the Silverado in a 2.7-liter I-4 turbo engine, which is rated at 310 hp and 348 pound-feet of torque. It's paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and will be standard on the new Silverado RST and popular Silverado LT trims -- replacing a 4.3-liter V-6 that's rated at 285 hp and 305 pound-feet torque.
