The redesign of GM’s mid-sized pickup will be is 16 inches shorter and 900 pounds lighter than its bigger brother, the full-sized Silverado, when it arrives in late 2014 as a 2015 model. It will come with a choice of a 2.5-liter, 193-hp four-banger or a 3.6-liter, 302-hp V-6 engine.|
About one year after the launch, GM plans to add an optional turbo diesel: the 2.5-liter or 2.8-liter Duramax that's in use Colorado in in the Asia and other overseas markets. GM says the Colorado will win customers with better fuel efficiency, towing and payload than the ancient Toyota Tacoma.
The trick will be to offer enough of a price and fuel economy spread between the Colorado and Silverado to present a clear choice in the showroom.
