Under the car's hood is a 518-hp, 6.3-liter V-8, producing 465 pounds-feet of torque. The engine is equipped with a battery charging system that activates the alternator only when needed. The E63 also will be equipped with AMG's Speedshift MCT seven-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes says transmission shifts are reduced to 100 milliseconds. The automaker says the new transmission, combined with other fuel-saving technology, will result in a 12 percent reduction in fuel consumption.
