McLaren MP4-12C
McLaren Automotive's MP4-12C will be a rival to cars such as the Ferrari 458, Lamborghini Gallardo or Aston Martin DB9. McLaren plans to build 1,000 MP4-12Cs in its first year on sale in 2011. The two-seat car is the first in a line of three new sports cars from the company based in Woking, southern England. The MP4-12C has a one-piece molded carbon-fiber chassis structure similar to a Formula One racing car and is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces about 600hp. The car will be priced between £125,000 ($209,000) and £175,000 ($292,000). McLaren started to develop the MP4-12C after the British sports car maker and Mercedes-Benz wound down their production cooperation. McLaren builds the Mercedes SLR McLaren.
