TOKYO (Reuters) - Honda Motor Co. said on Thursday that it is recalling 321,453 CR-V SUV vehicles and Acura ILX sedans worldwide to replace faulty door locks.

No accidents or injuries have been reported, a Honda spokesman said. He declined to comment on the cost of the recall covering 2012 Honda CR-V crossovers and 2013 Acura ILX sedans.

Honda said the recall covers 166,609 CR-V and 6,228 ILX models in the United States.

The redesigned 2012 CR-V -- one of Honda's best-selling models -- was introduced in the United States late last year; the ILX is a new model and went on sale this spring.

In Canada, Honda said the recall covers approximately 20,920 model-year 2012 CR-V vehicles and approximately 800 model-year 2013 Acura ILX vehicles.

Honda said simultaneous operation of the driver's or front passenger's inner door handle and either the manual or power door lock may result in the inner door handle release cable becoming partially disengaged.

In the event this happens, the door may not latch when closed and or the door may latch and close, but then open when the door locks are operated, Honda said in a statement.

As a result, the affected door may open unexpectedly.

Honda will replace both front door latches and, in some CR-V vehicles, the interior front door handles.
