Suzuki goes to the dogs with Super Bowl ad

Suzuki today released its 60-second Super Bowl commercial that highlights the all-wheel-drive version of the Suzuki Kizashi Sport.

This is the second consecutive winter-themed Super Bowl commercial for Suzuki. Last year, the Kizashi battled "wicked weather" snowmen inspired by the comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes."

The new ad features Inuit people and their sled dogs. Ultimately, the sled is replaced with a new Suzuki.

This also will likely be the second dog-oriented automotive Super Bowl ad in 2012. Volkswagen, in a teaser to its ad, depicted a chorus of dogs barking the Imperial March theme song from Star Wars.

Suzuki's commercial will run in both 60- and 30-second spots in Suzuki's top markets during and after the Super Bowl. The ads are part of a new campaign set to begin in March.

With the new ad, Suzuki also will give away scannable pet identification tags to the first 1,000 people who register on its site. With each tag, a $3 donation will be made to the American Red Cross for disaster relief.
