Fender, Panasonic to produce audio systems for VW

HERNDON, Va. - A partnership between Fender Musical Instruments Corp. and Panasonic Automotive Systems will produce a premium audio system for some 2012-model Volkswagens.

The partners spent three years developing the nine-speaker system for the German automaker. The system will debut this spring in the VW Jetta GLI, followed by the New Beetle and VW's as-yet unnamed new mid-sized sedan next fall.

Panasonic Automotive Systems is based in Peachtree City, Ga.
