Tata Motors is considering three new vehicles for Jaguar. These include a coupe or a roadster derivative of the new XF sedan, and a lightweight sports car to compete with the Porsche Boxster, dealers say. The coupe/roadster would be positioned below the XK. At a New York meeting with Jaguar executives, dealers were told that a luxury car also is possible. "These [cars] are under very serious consideration," says Dick Fitzpatrick, owner of Crest Jaguar of Woodbridge in Woodbridge, Connecticut, USA. "[Tata] will move fast." Dealers were told that Tata is not planning an SUV because it would compete with Land Rover and that an entry-luxury car to replace the X-Type is unlikely. |
