CFO: BMW to source more from U.S.

FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) -- BMW will increase its purchases of car parts and components in the United States as a result of the depreciation of the dollar against the euro, Chief Financial Officer Michael Ganal said in an interview with

WirtschaftsWoche magazine.

He said cars produced in the BMW plant in Spartanburg, S.C., contribute around 22 percent to overall group sales but the group's purchasing volume accounts for only 10 percent from the United States.

The purchasing volume from the United States should increase in the next four years, he added.

He also left open the possibility that the 240,000 cars being produced annually at its U.S. plant could be increased in the future.
