BMW to decide this year on electric car for U.S.

MUNICH (Thomson Financial) -- BMW will decide this year on an ecologically compatible car for the U.S. market -- which is likely to be battery powered -- CEO Norbert Reithofer said. The subject of discussion is the question whether to manufacture the car alone or in cooperation with a partner, Reithofer told auto motor und sport. According to Reithofer, BMW will be considered a so-called large vehicle manufacturer in the U.S. from 2012, obliged to offer an ecologically compatible car. |
