Bertone to present concept in Geneva

Bertone plans to unveil a concept car in Geneva tomorrow but not at the auto show in the Palexpo.

"We will unveil the B.A.T. 11 in a nice location in the city of Geneva," Stile Bertone Vice Chairman Marie-Jeanne Bertone said in a telephone interview with Automotive News Europe last week. She declined to identify the location in advance.

Marie-Jeanne Bertone confirmed her mother Lilli, Stile Bertone Chairman, had canceled the company's booking for its usual stand in Hall 2 of the Palexpo.

For the past three months, Marie-Jeanne and her sister Barbara have been battling with their mother Lilli over the future of the ailing Bertone group.

It is based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione high performance coupe, but the B.A.T. 11 was named to reconnect to the studio's famous B.A.T. 5, B.A.T. 7 and B.A.T. 9 concept cars, developed between 1953 and 1955 by Nuccio Bertone.

The 1950s research models were aimed at creating aerodynamic cars at a time when wind tunnels were not yet used by the automotive industry.

B.A.T. stands for Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica, (Aerodynamic Technical Berlinetta).
