Call it Volkswagen Group of America in January

Volkswagen of America, Inc. will change its name to Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. effective January 1.

The name change is intended to better reflect inclusion of the Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini nameplates under VW's brand umbrella, along with stalwart brands Volkswagen and Audi, the company said in a press release.

"Our new corporate name allows our individual brands to flourish, while recognizing that we have a common support structure that gives us great strength as we face competitors," VW Group of America CEO Stefan Jacoby said in a statement. "The new name Volkswagen Group reflects the much wider array of goods and services we now offer, and prepares us for even more activities in the future."

Volkswagen and Audi will continue sales and service operations under the names Volkswagen of America and Audi of America.
