DaimlerChrysler AG is exploring possible cooperation with other carmakers in the small car segment, including BMW. "The Mini platform continues to be part of the discussion, in addition to other BMW platforms," a company source told Automotive News Europe's sister publication Automobilwoche. The company has ruled out cooperation with Chrysler. "The common project group already decided that in July," the source said. DaimlerChrysler needs to cut costs for the forthcoming additions to its Mercedes-Benz model range. The future A and B classes need to return a profit in the highly competitive compact segment market in Europe. They will also be introduced for the first time in emerging markets such as China and Russia. You may e-mail Matthias Krust at mkrust@craincom.de |
