Will Toyota rebadge a Subaru Tribeca SUV as a Scion to join the xB? Will the carmaker offer another hybrid-only model? Japan's New Model Magazine X floats the Scion xTribeca idea in its latest issue. A spy photo accompanying the story shows a Tribeca-like vehicle camouflaged for testing. Under the wraps, the vehicle's grille badge resembles Scion's. Toyota owns 8.6 percent of Subaru's parent, Fuji Heavy Industries. Separately, Lexus' United Kingdom chief Steve Settle told Automotive News Europe that a hybrid-only model is planned for the Lexus brand. Settle said the hybrid-only Lexus will be slightly roomier than the current IS sedan. He wouldn't say whether it was derived from an existing platform. He said the new hybrid will be sold in Japan and Europe but might not make it to North America. |
