Hyundai Motor America has bolstered its entry-level Accent lineup with the addition of a hatchback for the 2007 model year and made a small price increase on the sedan.

The Accent hatchback will be sold in two trim levels, GS and SE. The sticker price of the Accent GS with a five-speed manual transmission is $10,995, including shipping. The optional four-speed automatic transmission adds $1,000 to the price.

The Accent SE has a sticker price of $14,495, including shipping. Standard equipment on the SE includes antilock brakes, air conditioning, power windows and locks, and a stiffer suspension.

Hyundai has tacked $150 onto the sticker price of the Accent GLS sedan for the 2007 model year. Of that $150 increase, $40 comes from a boost in shipping to $580. This generation of Accent sedan was introduced in December 2005 as a 2006 model.

Front, side-impact and side curtain airbags are standard equipment on all Accents.

Through the first five months of this year, Hyundai Accent sales totaled 11,598 units, down 34.9 percent from the same period last year.
