The F2E distributed pump common rail system enables the efficient introduction of common rail fuel injection technology, and Class-leading 3000 bar rail pressure performance, to an existing Electronic Unit Injector (EUI) diesel engine architecture with minimal modification.
The combination of unmatched high pressure and highly efficient hydraulic design enabled Delphi to demonstrate 50% smoke reduction and up to 5% fuel consumption improvement while attaining required low NOx levels. The F2E modular system fits completely under the rocker cover and is driven by the engine camshaft. The enclosed installation and efficient pump design yields a measurable -2dB(A) NVH benefit. The new modular system is comprised of pumping and non-pumping injectors, which can be deployed in varying proportion according to the engine performance requirements.
